This month I read 6 books.
Shades of Earth by Beth Revis
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
The Symptoms of My Insanity by Mindy Raf
Waterfell by Amalie Howard
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Scarlet by Marissa Meyer.
Of all of these, it is hard to pick a favorite. For the sake of this post, I am going to say Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, although I loved most of the books I read this month equally as much.
If you read my review of Cinder, the first book in the Lunar Chronicles series, this statement may come as a surprise to you. I loved Scarlet. I found the beginning of Cinder to be too slow, and that only the second half really caught my attention. But Scarlet started out perfectly. I was actually nodding to myself as I read it, saying yes! That is how you start a book! Thank you to those of you who encouraged me to try it; I’m so glad I didn’t give up on the series.
As you can see, I began, finished, or continued many series’ this month. In fact every book I read this month is part of a series, minus We Were Liars! What is with all the series’ on the YA market lately? I love book series’ (thumbs up for the amount of times I’ve said series, lol!) but sometimes all you want is a stand alone book so you aren’t bogged down by all the books in one series.
You can read my reviews of the above books, minus those that are sequels and conclusions to a trilogy, by browsing here: https://booksandpalettes.wordpress.com/category/reviews/
On another note, I find the layout I currently have for this blog to be very strange. If you notice the heart shaped button on each post, you might think that it is a “like” button. It is actually an icon that shows how many people shared the post to Facebook, Twitter, etc. Very weird.
Do you have any favorite series’? What did you read this month? Discuss in the comments below!
